Jax
Jax is a Wolf Hybrid and has been a resident of Critter Haven for a few years; we estimate his age is around 4 to 5 years old. He was initially purchased as a gift for a young boy from his father. However, neither of them had any experience or knowledge of Hybrid Wolves.
Without having the proper training and handling, Jax maintained more of his natural wild instincts and in turn, started destroyed furniture and even chewing through doors and walls.
He managed to escape several times and the last time he was tranquilized by animal control after he could not be safely handled by the trainers. ​
Following this they dropped him off at a dog shelter who could not keep him since he was a hybrid, they, in turn, reached out to us and we made arrangements to have the sanctuary be his new home.

Jax is still very timid around most people and our trainers often have to spend months methodically getting him comfortable with their presence.

Critter Haven has been primarily funded by its founder Gary Brady since it began over twenty years ago. With additional funding from generous donors, we have been able to sustain the substantial cost that comes with caring for these amazing animals.

Despite these contributions, we are still in need of all the help we can get. With the licensing, food purchases, medical equipment, and medication, the costs add up quickly.
