Founder of Critter Haven
It all began over 20 years ago when Gary's wife asked for a pet, so he gave her a hermit crab hoping they wouldn't get too attached. Before long they were taking in any animal that needed care and soon their home was overrun with birds, reptiles, mammals, and more. It was at that point they made a commitment to help save and protect as many abused or unwanted exotic animals as they could.
What started as a hermit crab purchased for his late wife has turned into a truly unique sanctuary which houses more than 200 animals across a 10 acres facility. Our sanctuary is now a 501(c)(3) organization and is licensed, regulated, and inspected by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.
Gary, as well as his volunteers, have made great sacrifices in both time and resources to create this special place in honor of his late wife and for the preservation of so many amazing critters.

Find A Critter?
As much as we would like to take in all critters, we are limited in our space and supplies to be able to. If you have found an animal, please click the corresponding button for handling instructions provided by the Florida Wildlife Hospital. They can provide you with more information regarding any wildlife you may come across that is in need of care.
With that in mind, please consider donating to Critter Haven, it will allow us to take in more critters, as well as maintain the best living standards
We Need Your Help
Critter Haven has been primarily funded by its founder Gary Brady since it began over twenty years ago. With additional funding from generous donors, we have been able to sustain the substantial cost that comes with caring for these amazing animals.
Despite these contributions, we are still in need of all the help we can get. With the licensing, food purchases, medical equipment, and medication, the costs add up quickly.
Every dollar you donate will help keep the animals at Critter Haven fed, healthy and happy for years to come.
